FORT WORTH (January 20, 2010) – Starting January 24, The T will implement adjustments involving 12 bus routes that will better align service with rider use and create a new peak period route from the Como neighborhood to downtown.
A major goal has been to offer a new peak period route without transfers from the Como neighborhood to downtown. It will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Como neighborhood also will continue to be served by Route 27 – Como which ends at Ridgmar Mall and provides transfers to downtown on Routes 2 and 61.
“The Como community in West Fort Worth has been requesting a “single seat ride” to downtown for several years, but the ridership from Como was not sufficient to take buses away from other routes to do this,” said Dick Ruddell, president of The T. “We are pleased that a number of factors now make some direct service possible.”
The elimination this month of Route 16 - Rosedale/Montgomery due to continued low ridership provided the opportunity to realign routing that would cover the Montgomery portion of Route 16 and integrate the give Como neighborhood to give residents a “single seat” route to downtown.
