Take the creative route to MAIN ST. arts festival on The T’s free shuttle
*The new park and ride service from Billy Bob’s will operate April 17 and 18 to ease downtown traffic and parking

FORT WORTH (April 10, 2009) – With half a million visitors expected, the annual MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival and The T have added a free park and ride bus shuttle for transportation to and from downtown for the first time this year.

The free MAIN ST. Park and Ride Shuttle service will operate every 20 minutes from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 18.  Pick up will be from a free parking lot at Billy Bob’s Texas in the Fort Worth Stockyards.  The shuttle’s downtown drop off and return location will be at 5th and Houston streets.

The T also offers regular late night service on the Trinity Railway Express, which is another convenient way to avoid traffic and parking congestion during the arts festival when several downtown streets will be closed.  The TRE station at the downtown Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) is just two blocks away.  The last TRE return train to Dallas departs from the ITC at 10:36 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays and arrives at Dallas Union Station at 11:35 p.m.  (The TRE does not operate on Sundays.)

Visitors who will be returning to Dallas on TRE should check DART schedules for appropriate DART rail/bus connections to their final destination.

The T’s bus and TRE schedules are available at www.The-T.com or by calling Customer Service at 817-215-8600.  For DART rail and bus, check www.dart.org.  For MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival information, go to www.mainstreetartsfest.org.
