The T’s “Safari Shuttle” runs to the zoo every Saturday this summer.
Save on gas and avoid traffic congestion with Safari Shuttle starting Saturday, May 24
FORT WORTH (May 16, 2008) The T will run the “Safari Shuttle” Zoo Trolley from the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) to the Fort Worth Zoo every Saturday beginning May 24 through October 25.
Traffic to the Zoo is particularly heavy on Saturdays during the summer months, so the Safari Shuttle offers a stress free way to visit the Zoo while helping to ease traffic congestion and save on high gas prices. Trinity Railway Express (TRE) passengers from Dallas and the Mid-Cities can conveniently catch the Safari Shuttle at the ITC and ride free of charge with their TRE day pass ticket.
The Safari Shuttle will run on Saturdays, only, from the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) at 1001 Jones Street in downtown Fort Worth to the Zoo’s main parking lot entrance on Colonial Parkway. The stop is just a short walk from the Zoo’s entrance. The Shuttles will run every 30 minutes beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the ITC. The last shuttle leaves the Zoo at 7 p.m.
The shuttle will operate an “express-type” service from the ITC directly to and from the Zoo with no other stops. For those who wish to park and ride from the downtown area, there are street and commercial parking available across from the ITC. A Day Pass to ride the Safari Shuttle round trip is $3 for adults and $1.50 for children ages 5 to 18 and for seniors age 65 and older. Children under age 5 ride free.
